When it comes to using Photoshop, photographers tend to fall into one of two camps: those who love it and those who don’t. I fall into the ‘love it’ category and have been using it daily for 20 years. As such, I’m often engaged to perform specialist image editing and compositing.

Apart from the red dragon image, I was not the author the original photographs on this page. I was responsible, however, for the retouching, compositing and/or blending of the finished images.

It was pretty easy to make these guys look great, though. Taken a few years back, I still think the shots “look the goods”.

I was invited by a race car driver friend of mine Peter to attend and capture some behind-the-scene shots as well as on-track action.

When shooting sport, I like to look for creative framing, and camera angles, and to use techniques that give a sense of drama and motion.

The beauty of a collection of images is that they are able to tell the story better than a standalone “hero shot”. Photo essays give the opportunity to add many layers and deeper context.
